THE HUMAN LEAGUE : Peel Session 1978

HL NME
Originally recorded 8th August 1978 (at BBC Maida Vale, of course), this must've been mastered from a vinyl bootleg of some sort (the In Darkness bootleg possibly?) as there are a couple of very audible skips (tres irritating, I know...) but sound quality overall is terrific. "No Time" (aka "Again The Eye Again" from Fast Product's The Human League Cassette) is actually a formative version of Reproduction's "The Word Before Last". Plug yourselves in, etc

P.S. I've actually no idea who posted this & the previous Nico session unfortunately, but many thanks anyway...

Spike the Human Punk says: Thanks for the post. This session perished with so many other C90s during my divorce. First saw this lot supporting Stiff Little Fingers at The Lyceum "some time in '78" and the hoardes even let them back for an encore (the Dr Who theme, I think). The Fall had slightly rougher treatment! SLF were F-A-B by the way, but ATV were truly dismal.

  2. I've never seen The League afraid, either pre or post "the split". Crowds were much more open minded & forgiving back then though, didn't Rough Trade send Robert Rental & The Normal out as support to Stiff Little Fingers too? BIZARRE!

Re: ATV. as much as I love their records I can imagine that their sloppy DIY waywardness might not translate too well as into live performance? To be fair though, Perry's still making half decent records 30+ years on...
