PiL : Bad Baby 22/4/80 Gildersleaves NYC

I've had a bootleg of this performance for a while (ta, Doomette) but didn't realise somebody had actually filmed it as well. Magnificent stuff, the classic PiL line-up at it's unassailable peak - Lydon looks like he's actually enjoying himself, Keith is still awake & Wobble is 100% amazing. Seriously, I could watch this all day... (N.B. Hang around for 5:45, it's priceless!)

  1. legendary band... far more influential than ever given credit for and no one really sounded like em at the time... people talk about Can but Can never ever sounded like Metal Box.
thanks for this , great blog by the way found my way here from a link on Exile On Moanstreet

  2. ...And absolutely NOBODY ever soounded like The Flowers Of Romance either!

Am actually off to see the reformed PiL next month. I'm expecting the worst tbh but I'm sure I'll regret it if I give 'em a miss...?

  3. Flowers Of Romance is one of my favourite tracks of all time... good luck with seeing em .... I thought about it....got Bruce Smith on drums so could be good, now if only Wobble and Levine were there...

  4. Would love to see the mighty Wobble back on bass, if only temporarily. Keith hasn't done ANYTHING of note since Commercial Zone though has he? Such a waste...

  5. Quick update: saw them on Saturday & they were terrific - they even played "The Suit" for fuck's sake! Catch 'em while they're hot...

  7. Saw them in Manchester, well worth the hike - I definitely recommend you see them "while they're hot" f you get the chance, if only for the extended "Flowers Of Romance" (your fav, I believe?). I'll post a few pics in a bit...

  10. I don't have a copy of the entire Gildersleeves show unfortunately, just a few songs, but most of the show seems to be up on Youtube at the moment (track-by-track)...
